Curricular Targets - Spring 2012
Which target is your children working towards? 
Can you help them achieve it?

 
 
Year 1 curricular targets – Numeracy: (Spring 2012)
Must: I can count on in 2's and 10's.
Should: I can count on in 2's, 5's and 10's.
Could:  I can count on in 2's. 5's, 10's and 100's.
Year 1 curricular targets – Literacy:
Must: I write a sentence with a capital letter and full stop.
Should: I can use the words and, but and because to join my sentences together.
Could: I can first, next, later or finally to order events.

Literacy - Year 2 Spring

Must - I  can write a sentence using and.

Should - I  can use and, because and so to join 2 short sentences together.

Could - I can use a range of connectives.

Numeracy - Year 2  Spring

Must - I understand that subtraction is the same as take away.

Should - I  can find the difference between 2 numbers.

Could - know that subtraction is the opposite of addition.

 

Numeracy - Year 3

Year 3 Curricular targets are as follows:
 
Numeracy
·         Know pairs that total 5 (including 0 and 5)
·         Know pairs that total 10
·         Know pairs that total 20
·         Know pairs of multiples of 10 that total 100.
·         Know pairs of multiples of 5 that total 100.
·         Know pairs of multiples of 10 that total 100.
·         Derive two digit pairs that total 100
Literacy
·         I can use keywords to write sentences.
·         I can make some adventurous word choices.
·         I can select words and understand the effect on the reader.
Year 4 Curricular Targets – Spring Term 2012

Must
Sequence ideas and information logically
To know and use x2,x5,x10,x3 and x4 tables.
Should
Try to organise writing in paragraphs
To learn and use x6,x7,x8 and x9 tables.  
Could
Use paragraphs consistently to group related information.
 To know all tables up to 10 x 10 and apply this knowledge in a range of contexts.
 

Year 5 Curricular Targets – Spring Term 2012

Must

I can use some adjectives.
The man is grumpy.

• Recalldoubles to 10 + 10 andother significant doubles, e.g.double 50p is 100p or £1
Use knowledge of doubles to 10 + 10 to derive corresponding halves

Use mental recall of the 2 and 10 multiplication tables 

Should

 

• I can use a variety of adjectives and adverbs to describe nouns and verbs.
The grumpy man slammed his door loudly, which made me feel upset!

 

Order understand place value in numbers to 1000, e.g. use understanding of place value to multiply/divide whole numbers by 10 (whole number answers)

Use mental recall of the 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10 multiplication tables, e.g. multiply a two-digit number by 2, 3, 4 or 5

Use place value to multiply and divide whole numbers by 10 or 100

Recall multiplication facts up to 10 × 10 and quickly derive corresponding division facts, e.g. use their knowledge of tables and place value in calculations with multiples of 10 such as 30 × 7, 180 ÷ 3



Use understanding of place value to multiply and divide whole numbers and decimals by 10, 100 and 1000 and explain the effect

Multiply or divide decimal numbers by a single digit,   e.g. 31.62 × 7

Spring Curricular Targets – Year 6

Numeracy

Must

I can use my knowledge of division to mentally find 50%, 25% and 75% of numbers. (Level 3)

Should

I can use my knowledge of division to mentally find 1%, 5%, 10% and 20% of numbers. (Level 4)

Could

I can use my knowledge of division to mentally find percentages of numbers. (Level 5) 

Extension

I can use my knowledge of division and problem solving to find any percentage from a given percentage. (Level 5+)

Literacy

Must

I can demarcate sentences accurately with full stops, capital letters, question and exclamation marks. (Level 3)  

Should

I can demarcate sentences accurately throughout my writing, including question marks, speech marks to denote speech and commas in lists and to mark clauses. (Level 4)

Could

I can use a full range of punctuation accurately to demarcate sentences. (Level 5)I can write a variety of different types of sentences to build up detail and to have a specific effect on the reader. (Level 5)

Extension

I can use punctuation to extend the meaning of my sentences. (Level 5+)
